A musical medley at St Ignatius

And so the show went on

Friday, May 20,  2005

The theme and title of the St Ignatius Catholic School’s post Ivan variety show staged recently at Loyola Hall was appropriate enough, The Show…. Must Go On!

A rousing production that replaced the yearly “musical”, it included singing, dancing, and much more.

Students from Year 1 to the 6th form showed off their prodigious talents. Teachers Mary Anne Kosa and Simon Donoghue directed (Simon also arranged and conducted the music for the orchestra) and choreography was by 6th form student Alison Maxwell.

Some of the highlights included medleys and dance numbers from Grease, Annie, The Lion King and selected Rogers and Hammerstein songs.

The concert band conducted by JoAnne Comisso and steel pans under Michael LeMay performed, as did the school’s saxophone quartet. Special vocal soloists were Brooke Parchment, Kody Bergstrom, Arek Nicholson, Christina Gordon, Adisheree Mani, Briana Bergstrom, Michael Testori, Edward Westin, Inara Myles, Rejuan Henry and Katie Fleming. For something completely different, Lasani Sambula brought down the house with his hiphop/breakdance performance as did the 4 Petes (all staff members so named) with their barbershop stylings.

The evening was as much cabaret as concert with tables set up for the benefit of the patrons.

St. Ignatius HSA provided refreshments. To add to the relaxed ambiance, MC’s Juliet Austin and Peter Kosa kept the audience laughing and the acts moving along with their entertaining banter.
