With an objective to educate and raise public awareness and help reduce
crimes against women locally, such as rape, domestic violence and abuse, “Girl
Power” is a premier Theme Party set for Friday 3 June at Cardinal Avenue –
Georgetown. The street will be blocked off for the staging of this special
annual event. “Ladies run things”, ‘Woman is Boss” - so to say and this party
is being done in-order to highlight this aspect. Some of the funds raised will
be going to Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, to help them with the essential work
they do for women in the community.
Girl Power’s major highlight will be the performance of the Soca Diva of
Trinidad and Tobago and the World – Destra Garcia with her popular hits like
“Bonnie and Clyde, Carnival, Fly, Come Beta, Up In the Air and Love Somebody”,
just to name a few.
Destra’s performance is positioned at being approximately 45 minutes in
which she is due to give a high energy and exciting performance of all the
above hit songs and more. Also in the line up will be Jungle, a Male artist
also from Trinidad and Tobago and known widely for one of his favorite hits
“Wine like ah Animal”. Both Destra and Jungle are very popular and liked in
the Cayman Islands and there is no doubt that they will be well received.
The Opening Act will feature the Sexy and talented Girls of Cayman’s very
own Heat, fresh off winning the Cable and Wireless/Batabano Song Competition
with their new hit song “Girls”, ideally positioned in keeping with the theme
and concept of “Girl Power”.
