LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Too many people are becoming Caymanian too quickly

Monday,  June 6, 2005

To Mr James H. Dunnett:

You state that you are not allowed to be Caymanian; can you elaborate on this statement, because from my point of view too many people are becoming Caymanian too quickly.

You make too many generalisations without facts. What I do see from your complaint is that you, like a lot of other guests, would like to ignore the process and be granted special dispensation. In other words you don’t want to wait like everybody else; you want status right now, in spite of the fact that you haven’t lived in Cayman the required amount of time.

I assume that if you are not one of the thousands that were granted status last year, you are not eligible yet. All I can tell you is, wait a few more days, I’m sure you’ll get what you want — Caymanians are so accommodating.

By the way, how long have you been in Cayman? Two days I suppose!
