Frank Banks, was the lucky winner of the much coveted brand new topless
Mini Cooper convertible, which has got to be the coolest car in Cayman and
first prize in the Rotary Sunrise raffle. The second prize of two impressive
scooters went to Samantha Powell and the third prize of Cayman Airways
tickets, was won by Elda Castillo.
The prizes were drawn at the Giant Z-99/Rooster 101 Family Fun Day on
Sunday 12 June.
'We have had wonderful success,” said Chris Bowring, President of Rotary
Sunrise. “Public response has been amazing and we are most grateful to
everyone who bought a ticket and supported our good cause.”
The event was organised by Russell Smith, Tim Dailey and the Sunrise
Fund-Raising Committee and they roped in the entire Rotary membership and a
whole bunch of their friends to sell tickets Island wide.
Most of the prizes were donated by local firms and this plus a lot of help
from Scotiabank, British Caymanian Insurance, Walkers and Bank Austria has
ensured that every cent of the profit will go to benefit the various Rotary
programmes in the Cayman Islands.
“Fundraisers like this would not be possible without the support and help
of Corporate Cayman. Businesses large and small have rallied together and
ensured that we can continue to help the IVAN relief fund, the school
libraries, Bonaventure Boys Home and lots of similar causes,” said Geoff
Matthews.
Rotary SUNRISE is the newest Rotary Club in Grand Cayman. It has 62
members, mostly young professionals, from Cayman and 14 other nationalities
who meet for breakfast every Wednesday at the Grand Old House - having fun
helping others.
