Wednesday,  July 6, 2005

After the shocking revelation of Cayman’s first car-jacking on Friday, Sergeant Banks of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service discovered the stolen vehicle on Sunday in the vicinity of the Spotts- Newlands area.

The vehicle has been impounded and is now undergoing investigation by officers from George Town Police station who are checking for prints and any other evidence left by the perpetrators.

The car-jacking took place in Shamrock Road on 1 July when three men wearing masks and carrying handguns tried to get the driver of the White Toyota Corona into the trunk of the car, but the victim managed to escape before the carjackers sped off with his vehicle.

In other police news a number of weapons were found by officers on Saturday 2 July including a semi-automatic firearm weapon and a crossbow.

Also on Saturday 2 July officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Island Pines, West Bay Road, George Town. The Police had responded to a disturbance at the location. The man was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace.

On Sunday night two young Caymanian men were arrested fleeing the scene of a burglary in the Industrial area around Sparky Drive.
