
Police officer finds CI’s first car-jacked vehicle on outskirts of George Town

After the shocking revelation of Cayman’s first car-jacking on Friday,
Sergeant Banks of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service discovered the
stolen vehicle on Sunday in the vicinity of the Spotts- Newlands area.
The vehicle has been impounded and is now undergoing investigation by
officers from George Town Police station who are checking for prints and any
other evidence left by the perpetrators.
The car-jacking took place in Shamrock Road on 1 July when three men
wearing masks and carrying handguns tried to get the driver of the White
Toyota Corona into the trunk of the car, but the victim managed to escape
before the carjackers sped off with his vehicle.
In other police news a number of weapons were found by officers on Saturday
2 July including a semi-automatic firearm weapon and a crossbow.
Also on Saturday 2 July officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Island
Pines, West Bay Road, George Town. The Police had responded to a disturbance
at the location. The man was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace.
On Sunday night two young Caymanian men were arrested fleeing the scene of
a burglary in the Industrial area around Sparky Drive.
