Dr Patrick Allen, President of the West Indies Union Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists headed the list of overseas church officials at the
ordination of Pastor Richard Powell, which took place in George Town
Seventh-day Adventist Church, recently.
Pastor Powell graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology with
honors. He is now based in the Cayman Brac district since December 2003, with
his wife Zoraida and family.
“This event was a special one as we have waited fifteen years for something
like this. Pastor Powell is a young Caymanian who others can look to as a role
model, and this augurs well for the future,” said Dr Jeffrey Thompson, who is
current conference President.
“He has endured several years of training, and has truly matured. He
understands the dynamics, and his ordination means he can not only pastor in
the Cayman Islands, but his ordination is an international one, and he’s
therefore ordained for the world church. I have mentored him, and feel
especially blessed at the path his life has taken”.
