The Memorial Service for David Wade Foster, OBE, founder of Foster’s Food
Fair, took place in the grounds of Pedro St James Castle on Wednesday, 13
July. Several hundred mourners came to the large Marquee tents.
Tributes to Mr Foster came from his children, grandchildren, and his wife.
His son, William, said: “Spending time with you was amazing, and still will be
because I know you are still here watching and guiding us.”
His daughter, Stephanie added: “Everyone who is here knows that your are a
loving, caring, devoted strong and supportive businessman and member of the
community,” and his daugher, Tanya said: “Dad, I love you so much and I am so
proud to be your daughter. I cherish all of the memories that I have and the
values you have instilled in me.”
Paying tribute to his father, Mr Foster’s son Woody said: “Dad, you meant
so much to our family. You were our father and our leader as work and family
was pretty much the same thing…you make me and our whole family so proud just
to know that we are your children.”
John Michael added to the tribute when he said: “I would like to thank you
publicly for all that you have taught me over the years as my father… you
taught me that I am part of a family, a community, a country. We are all a
part of something larger and if we work together we can achieve anything that
we set our mind to. I love you. Rest in Peace.”
During his message, Rev PJ Lawrence said that Mr Foster was prepared for
death, and had been baptized just before he died.
