Nurse Liz says a fond farewell

Nurse Liz Bowerman

After giving almost 20 years of dedication to health care in the Cayman
Islands, Nurse Liz Bowerman is returning to her native England to help take
care of her parents.
Liz expressed her sadness at leaving Cayman and the people she has met.
“I’m going to miss all the wonderful people I have met in Cayman,” said
Nurse Liz. “I find it very difficult to leave, because I love my job so much,
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Dr. Pickering and I love his patients.”
Nurse Liz arrived in Cayman back in January 1986 with the intention of
staying on the Island for just six months. However, during 1988, she began
working with Dr Steve Tomlinson as a Registered Nurse and like so many others,
her love for the Island and her patients grew.
Nurse Liz continued to work with Dr. Tomlinson, but also assisted Drs.
Pickering, Caudeiron and Smith at the Professional Medical Centre.
For the last 5 years, she has worked alongside Dr. Pickering at the
Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital.
“Liz has been an excellent nurse and friend for more than 12 years. I am
going to miss her, in fact I’m going to feel like I’ve lost my left hand,”
said Dr. Pickering.
In addition to Nurse Liz’s dedication to healthcare, she has shown her
commitment to the Cayman community through her active involvement with the
Cayman Islands Humane Society and the First Baptist Church.
Patients and staff of the CTMH are invited to a farewell event for Liz on
Wednesday 20 July, 6.00 pm at the CTMH.
