Degree with modelling and football in her spare time.

A banker by day and a football player in her spare time, Jovani Hessing
holds the coveted title of first runner up in the Miss Cayman 2004 contest.
With a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration from Stetson
University, Florida, Ms Hessing is currently pursuing an online Masters degree
with American Intercontinental University (AIU).
Known for her academic excellence from her early junior school years,
Jovani’s first loves throughout school were always Maths and Science. At the
end of her high school years, she copped yet another title – one of which she
will always be proud – that of Valedictorian for her Triple C graduating
class.
With a birthday one week away, on 28 July, Jovani is looking forward to
packing more of the same, and even other activities, into her days ahead, as
she continues to live the life of a modern-day, mid-twenties, young and
upwardly mobile professional.
“When I finished my BA, I came right back to Cayman in 2002. I have lived
here since I was nine years old. This is home.
“My first job was with Cayman Islands Development Bank, where I worked for
almost two years. My next move was a short stint at Walkers, and then I moved
on to Scotia Bank where I have been now for a little over a year. I hold the
post of Accounts Officer in the Corporate and Commercial Department.
“I really like the field that I am in and I think I will always be involved
with something that is Maths or Science related. However, I am keeping all
possibilities open in relation to movement in the corporate financial sector.”
Asked about the place fashion holds in her life Ms Hessing said, “The first
time I got involved with anything to do with fashion on stage, or with
modelling, was when I entered the Miss Cayman competition only one year ago.
The fact that I managed to place as first runner up was quite encouraging.
“I have also had a lot of encouragement from other people, and so I have
done a bit of fashion photography. I am quite open to pursuing any
opportunities for doing shows. I like being on stage just as much as I like
being in front of the camera; that is, I don’t have a preference for one or
the other.”
Asked about her hobbies Ms Hessing said, “I would not consider myself a tom
boy, but I have always loved football. In fact I have taken part in the sport
for many years and I am currently Goal Keeper on the Western Union female
football team. Because of my work and study schedules, football has been my
main hobby.
“However, I also have a passion for doing charitable work. In fact, next
month I am volunteering a week of my vacation to the NCVO. This is my
favourite charity and I will work there for an entire week.”
Despite having very little time for hobbies, Ms Hessing explained that she
does manage to find time for another passion – cooking.
“I simply love to cook. I am a pasta person when on the go, and that is
probably because I love Italian cuisine. However I do like to cook a variety
of dishes,” Ms Hessing said.
