Despite the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) being forced to postpone Taste of Cayman indefinitely because of this year’s hurricane season, the Raffle draw went ahead.
The winner of the Draw for US$50,000 was announced on Cayman 27’s Daybreak on Wednesday 20 July, along with numerous other great prizes.
The holder of the winning ticket number (Number 1717) for the US$50,000 grand prize was Michelle Dilbert of Savannah Newlands. Ms Dilbert was greeted with the news of her luck as she arrived for work at Butterfield Bank.
“I forgot my cell phone at home this morning and thought that it was not a good way to start the day, but now I see that there is no such thing as a bad sign. I still won’t forget it again though.” she commented.
Ms Dilbert said that she was “Speechless with happiness” at the news, and that she planned to spend the money on her children’s education.
