Seafarers’ General Meeting
Cayman Islands Seafarers Association wishes their members to know there will be a General Meeting on Tuesday 16 August at 7:30 pm in the Seafarer’s Hall at 11 Victory Avenue, Prospect. Pink Ladies Tea Party

Red Cross’ 8th Annual Golf Tournament

‘Fahive’ opens at the National Gallery

Vacation Bible School
The Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Children’s Department welcomes children ages 3 to 12 years old to its Vacation Bible School from 15 to 19 August from 5:15 pm to 8:00 pm.

Cayman Drama Society
The Cayman Drama Society will be presenting local singer Jacinthe Sabourin, JC, at an event on Friday and Saturday, 19 and 20 August at the Prospect Playhouse at 7:30 pm. The Health Services Authority (HSA) is reminding all participants in the CINICO Health Insurance Plan, including Civil Servants, that they are required to present their CINICO benefits card when registering for service at any HSA facility. Revival Services
The Wesleyan Holiness Church, West Bay invites everyone to their Revival Services on 24, 25 and 26 August at 7.30 pm, and 28 August at 9:00 am or 10:45 am and 6:00 pm, to be held at the Wesleyan Christian Academy premises. District Community Police Meetings
The RCIPS wishes to advise the public that there will be a district community police meeting on 11 August in Cayman Brac at the Aston Rutty Civic Centre and 12 August at the Little Cayman Beach Resort Grouper Room. Meetings begin 7:30 pm.

UCCI
The University College of the Cayman Islands would like to notify all prospective students that the 4th sitting of the College Entrance Exam will be held on 12 August at 9:00 am. The National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)

Cayman Islands Sea School with SpongeBob SquarePants
SpongeBob SquarePants is spending his second summer in the Cayman Islands and all children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old are invited to join him for two hours of fun-filled maritime activities at the Sea School at the South Sound Dart Family Park, every week until 2 September 2005, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Cyber Camp @ Micro Matrix

National Housing Annual Summer Programme, George Town
National Housing and Community Development Trust wishes to advise parents that they will be having the Annual Summer Programme for the district of George Town on 15 – 26 August at the Agape – Stephen Jared Ebanks Youth Centre, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, for children ages 5-13. 2005 National Evangelistic Crusade

Student Health Screening
The Public Health Department advises parents and guardians that all new students entering school in the Cayman Islands, as well as children from kindergarten entering Year one, are required to do a health screening. This must be submitted to the John Gray High School Health Centre by 29 August. For further information contact the School Health Coordinator, Nurse Teldra at 244-2648 or JGHS at 925-5401.

DoE and Marine Conservation Board Announcement
The Department of Environment and Marine Conservation Board wishes to remind the public that a fishing license is required for work permit holders who wish to fish from shore for consumption. Applications for annual or monthly fishing licences can be obtained from the DoE’s office in North Sound Road. Contact the Department at 949-8469 for further information.

Al-Anon Group Meeting
If someone in your life is drinking and it is negatively affecting your life and relationship, the Al-Anon Group is asking you to come and join them. Meetings take place on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm at the National Drug Council, Compass Building, beside Bank of Butterfield. Newcomers’ introduction is at 7:40 pm. For any questions call 947-0101.

Volunteers needed for Hurricane Centres
The Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (ADRA) is seeking volunteers to serve as Shelter Managers, in designated centres, for the 2005 hurricane season. Interested persons are asked to contact 324-3575 or 926-5500 to arrange a convenient time for training.

Law Reform Commission Office
The offices of the Law Reform Commission are located on the third floor of Anderson Square in George Town and will be headed by Cheryl Ann Neblett. Telephone numbers are 244-2368 and 244-2365.

US Consul
The US Consul agency located at Adventure Travel, Grand Harbour will only handle US Embassy matters between 1 pm and 5pm Monday to Friday. This includes questions, form drop-offs, form pickups, passport renewals and notaries, and also all drop-offs and pickups for the US Visa electronic forms. Call 945-8173.

Art Exhibition
Local artist Avril Ward has an ongoing exhibition of original paintings at Grand Old House, South Sound Road. Open for viewing 9:00 am-11:00 pm weekdays and 4:30-11:00 pm weekends. Call 927-5516 for more information.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily to help those with drinking problems. For more information, call 926-9044.

Hours for Vehicle Licensing
The Vehicle Licensing offices on Walkers Road and Elgin Avenue are open to the public from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Vehicle Inspections facilities are also open at 8:30 am, but close at 3:45 pm. Both offices will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The West Bay office is opened on Saturdays from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

No fishing in grouper areas
The Marine Conservation Board is reminding the public that designated grouper spawning areas are closed to fishing. The prohibition includes setting a fish trap in these areas or within a one-mile radius of a designated grouper spawning area. For maps of the Marine Parks and designated grouper spawning areas and a brochure of the Marine Conservation Laws, contact the Department of Environment at 949-8469 or go on-line at www.gov.ky

Membership Update for CITA
The Cayman Islands Tourism Association is encouraging members to contact the CITA office as soon as possible to update their Membership and Contact information, so that members will be kept informed and involved about events, and especially now that another hurricane season is approaching. Port Storage Times
The Cayman Islands Port Authority has advised that they have returned to their normal business hours. The Cargo Distribution Warehouse hours of operation are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The warehouse will be closed on Sundays. For further information contact the Port Authority’s office.

End of Conch/Whelk Season
The Department of Environment is advising the public that the conch and whelk season is officially closed until 31 October. For more information contact the Department at 949-8469 or visit www.gov.ky  to view the Marine Park Rules.

The Cayman Islands Airports Authority
The second floor of the Owen Roberts International Airport, including the Waving Gallery, is closed to the public until further notice. This closure is for safety reasons due to the ongoing construction and repairs in this area. The CIAA apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation.
