Ministry of Health
The office of the Ministry of Health and Human Services in the Government Administration Building will be closed on Friday 9 September from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm to facilitate a staff retreat prior to the first anniversary of Hurricane Ivan’s devastation.  The Ministry apologize for any inconvenience caused, and will resume normal business hours on Monday 12 September. 

National Gallery Needs Sculpting Apprentices
The National Gallery is seeking two apprentices to understudy professional sand sculptors from the company Sanding Ovations in the US. Applicants must be Caymanian and at least 16 years old. For more information email director.ng@candw.ky  or call 945-8111.   

National Trust Caymanian Cooking Class
A local celebrity chef will be demonstrating the art of preparing a traditional Caymanian dish on Wednesday 14 September at 7:00 pm.  Recipe and sample of the finished product included.  CI$15.00 for Trust members; $20.00 for non-members. National Gallery Courses
The National Gallery is offering the following continuing education courses starting the week of 12 September: Introduction to Drawing, Introduction to Acrylic Painting, Introduction to Ceramics, Introduction to Photography, Life Drawing, Introduction/Intermediate Relief Printmaking, and Creative Sculpture. Teen Scholarships on offer at National Gallery
Two “Teen Scholarships” are available for each of the continuing education courses on offer at the National Gallery Education Centre.  Scholarships are on a first come, first served basis provided applicants meet specified criteria. Historical Walking Tour of George Town
There will be a “Historical Walking Tour of George Town” on Saturday 10 September at 9:00 am. Take time to stroll through historic George Town. Visit a church, graveyards, official buildings, walk through the capital and learn a little more about Cayman’s Caribbean culture. $5.00 donation for Trust members; $10.00 for non-members. Special Service of Thanksgiving
The North Side Wesleyan Holiness Church invites all to celebrate the Blessings of God after Hurricane Ivan in a Special Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday 11 September at 11:00 am. 

Ordination Service
The United Church invites everyone to the service of Ordination for Louis Sully to the Ministry of Word and Sacraments on Sunday 11 September at 10:00 am at the Mary Miller Memorial Hall.  Call 947-1963 for more information. 

Agape Family Worship Centre’s Special Service
The Agape Family Worship Centre will be celebrating a Special Service of Worship, Thanksgiving and Praise on Sunday 11 September at 10:00 am. All are welcome and encouraged to join in the Celebration of Thanksgiving.  A special offering will be received to help the people of the Gulf Coast States in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Old Timey Missionary Baptist church
The Old Timey Missionary Baptist Church of the Jamaica and Cayman Islands invites everyone to a special 9-11 worship service on Sunday 11 September starting at 10:30 am on North Sound Road across from AL Thompson’s & Sons in Georgetown.  Missionary Dwen Gritton and wife Nicola will be hosting US Missionary Elder Richard (Rick) Jones, Evangelist and Bible teacher, preaching on the theme “Salvationism Prerequisite H20 Baptism”. Memorial Walk/Run
Our Angels Foundation’s Second Annual Memorial Walk/Run takes place on Sunday 11 September, beginning at the Wharf Restaurant to Sea Grape Grill.  Walkers start at 5:30 am, and runners at 6:30 am.  Cost is $15.00 including a T-shirt and Cabaret Breakfast featuring Jamaican Jazz Singer Karen Smith.  All are invited to come and join hands and hearts to show unity with the families and friends who have lost someone. 

ITLD-Cayman Seminar
Presents an Intensive Model Seminar on “Theological Reflections and Counseling” from 9 to 12 September (evenings and weekend).  Venue: Elmslie Memorial United Church, Board Room.  The speaker will be Rt. Rev. Dr. R Hewitt.  He will also be the speaker at the New Certificate Course in “Biblical Leadership” on 10 September at 9:00 am at Cayman Prep and High School, and Guest Speaker at the ordination service of Pastor Louis Sully at the Mary Miller Hall on Sunday 11 September.  Contact Rev Dr P J Lawrence at 925-6448 for more information. 

Meetings at Family Life Centre
All are invited to come and hear Pastor Fran from 15 September to 21 September at the Family Life Centre from 7:30 pm.  There will be no meetings on 17 and 18 September. 

Department for Counselling Services Workshop
The Department for Counselling Services’ Counselling Centre is offering a two-day workshop for married couples or those in committed relationships to improve their conflict resolution skills.  The course dates are Wednesday 14 September from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday 17 September from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Cayman Drama Society
The Cayman Drama Society will be hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre “All Over But the Shooting” on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September at the Prospect Playhouse, Red Bay, at 7:30 pm.  Doors open at 6:45 pm. Tourism World Beauty Pageant
Elite Productions presents The Miss Cayman Islands Tourism World Beauty Pageant 2005, which will take place at Pedro St James on 24 September at 7:30 pm. Tickets at Reflections 1-2-3, Lorna’s Fashions, Annie’s Beauty Center and also at the gate.  

National Pensions Office and Health Insurance relocation
The public is advised that the offices of the National Pensions Office (NPO) and the Health Insurance Commission (HIC) will relocate early in September.  The new offices will be located on the second floor, Anderson Square, at 64 Shedden Road.  The phone and fax numbers as well as the email addresses will remain the same. 

National Museum’s Gift Shop
The National Museum’s Gift Shop will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. The shop will be closed Mondays and Saturdays until further notice. The Museum apologizes for any inconvenience this will cause. For emergencies please call 949-8368/925-7628. 

Photography Club Meeting
On Tuesday 20 September, the Photography Club will be having as their guest Art Pasquali (current McCoy Prize winner) and on 4 October their guest will be Rebecca Davidson (portrait photographer).  Email photographyclubgcm@hotmail.com  for more information.
