Brac office for Net News

Sister Islands Bureau Chief,
Nicky Watson

Friday,  September 23, 2005

Cayman Net News and is breaking new ground yet again with the opening of an office on Cayman Brac, the first print media house to do so.

The office on the Brac will be the headquarters for Sister Islands’ news reporting for the daily paper, and also the Sister Islands’ weekly supplement, The Bracker and Little Caymanian.

Net News Publisher Desmond Seales said this was an obvious expansion for the business as there is an increasing amount of news coming from Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, and having full time staff living on the Island is the only way to cover all the news all the time.

The new office in Tibbetts Plaza, West End, will be staffed by Sister Islands Bureau Chief Nicky Watson and a young Bracker, Monique Watson, who started work this week as Customer Service Clerk and Office Coordinator.

Residents on the Sister Islands will now be able to bring their classified and other advertisement requests, letters to the editor, and also printing orders for business cards and brochures straight to the office, where they will be dealt with by Monique Watson.

With the Brac satellite station, Net News is also able to offer residents other services, including public Internet access and colour printing.

“This is a really exciting time for both Cayman Net News and Cayman Brac,” said Nicky Watson.

“The Island appears to be going through a period of growth and I am delighted to be able to record this important period in the history of Cayman Brac through a newspaper that is itself growing with the times.”
