Celebrating the true taste of Caribbean

Grand Old House to celebrate the taste and tradition of
rum
Friday,  September 23, 2005

The Grand Old House will be hosting a festival dedicated to the traditional Caribbean tipple of Rum next month. From exhibitions and workshops, to tasting and cookery demonstrations, the restaurant is dedicating three days to celebrate the flavours, traditions and of course potency of the drink.

The festival starts on 13 October with an exhibition of Angel Rivero Sierra’s work. He is a member of the Experimental Workshop of Graphics in Havana International exhibitions in New York and Spain and in the Museum of Art and Graphic in Berlin, Germany.

This is an open Invitation, sponsored by Havana Club and the proceeds will benefit the Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund.

On 14 October rum fans and novices will have the opportunity to taste the different flavours of the Caribbean, travel to the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Jamaica, all in one evening.

The idea is to treat your taste buds to the world’s finest rums and spirited cooking by Paul Yellin.

Entertainment will be supplied by international pianist Vilma Comas and tickets cost C.I. $ 125.00 per person.

This includes workshop, tasting, and dinner. Also corresponding wines.

On Saturday 15 October a night of Merengue Salsa Fun and Rum starts at 7:00 pm. With a rum infused Caribbean Market Buffe guests can dance to the sound of Body & Soul and Candela, a sizzling hot international Salsa Band. There will be a free rum tasting corner and opportunities to mingle with rum producers.

A Hole-In-One Golf Competition - under the stars, could see the lucky winner drive home a brand new Mercedes 2005 SLK Roadster.

Tickets are $ 150.00 per person, which includes the hole in one fee, dinner, as well as two drink tickets per person and the live entertainment.
