LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Sister Islands Airports
Tuesday, September 27, 2005
Dear Sir,
At last we’re getting some feedback about Cayman Brac and Little Cayman Airports. I want to thank the Minister of Tourism and Airport Authority for the information.
The people of the Sister Islands understand, I’m sure, that it will take a lot to buy the equipment for Cayman Brac’s airport, but it is needed as soon as possible, and this should have been done long ago.
Our former Government never thought about this, which is not strange. I remember when we had someone from overseas and were paying him $5,000 a month plus expenses to get our economy going.
All his studies and information went under the tables and $100,000 down the drain. Fifteen years later, we’re spending about $600,000 or maybe more on the supposed new airport on Little Cayman. This could have bought the baggage and X-ray machine we need so badly at Cayman Brac airport.
I’m sure this Minister will spend money wisely, and I’m happy someone is finally taking interest.
It will take time and money, but hopefully something will be done soon. The Sister Islands’ economy needs it.
