The Pines Retirement Home announced Margaret Lue as the recipient of their Employee of the Quarter award recently.

This is an award that is given to a staff member of The Pines who has demonstrated excellence in his or her work – generally someone who goes beyond the call of duty. The award is a $250 cash prize that is sponsored by CIBC Bank and Trust Company (Cayman) Ltd.

Staff of The Pines nominate their co-workers for this award. Ms Lue has been working at The Pines since November 1989 as a Senior Health Care Assistant, and Activities Assistant.

She can often be seen accompanying residents on various outings in the community, such as to the Happy Seniors meetings, or facilitating activities for the residents at the Home.

Sue Nicholson, Manager of The Pines, said: “Margaret’s co-workers selected her as the recipient for this award due to the exceptional care and compassion that she shows for the residents of The Pines. Margaret is a true advocate for the residents, and she is known to go beyond the call of duty for the residents’ benefit.”

Margaret said: “I enjoy my work at The Pines, especially taking care of the residents, they are like a family to me; like my grandfathers and grandmothers,” she said.

“I have always enjoyed taking care of the elderly, and was brought into this profession by my mother, who also cared for the elderly.”
