Montserrat
Monday, October 3, 2005
Local attorney Charles Quin, QC, has agreed to a request to assist the Government of Montserrat. Since August Mr Quin has been undertaking a short term assignment to act as the Attorney General of Montserrat until a new permanent Attorney General is appointed and takes up the post.
One of Mr. Quin`s functions was to appear on 20th September for the Government of Montserrat at the Opening of the Law Year 2005/2006 of The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
As acting Attorney General Mr Quin is also advising the Governor and Executive Council over the recent resignation of the Minister for Agriculture, Land, Housing and the Environment Hon. Margaret Dyer-Howe and has been involved in recent talks on the Constitution with an FCO team from London.
It is expected that Mr Quin will return to his practice at Quin & Hampson in mid October.
The Hon. Attorney General Samuel Bulgin, JP, QC said that it is indeed a marvellous gesture for one of our eminent Legal Practitioners from the Cayman Islands to have been able to provide practical and positive assistance to a neighbouring Overseas Territory in such an important capacity as the country’s Attorney General and therefore its principal Legal Advisor.
