Filming commenced last week for the Travel Channel’s reality series, ‘Destination Wedding Planner.’
The first six of the series of hour-long episodes, which are scheduled to air during February 2006, will explore the destination weddings produced by Jo-Anne Brown, Managing Director of Celebrations, a local company specializing in wedding and special event preparation.
The show will be a behind-the-scenes look at the full-scale wedding preparations of Ms Brown and her team.
The series will feature selected brides from the US, who will be interviewed, as well as some local couples, who will share the experience of having the Celebrations team plan and their weddings.
“I am honoured and humbled to be chosen,” Ms Brown said, “The top planners in the Caribbean region were screened and after presenting all the options to the Travel Channel, I was selected.
“This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the exceptional world-class work and talent to be found in the Cayman Islands. It makes me extremely happy and proud, because I have been doing destination weddings for many years.”
“It comes at a time, after Ivan, when exposure of the Islands is very much needed,” she added.
The events are planned at a variety of local venues that will expose the Cayman Islands as the stage for picture-perfect weddings. The first wedding is scheduled for the Wharf Restaurant, and will include a ride to Stingray City on a speedboat, and a visit to the Marriott hotel.
As the filming continues, there will be opportunity for exposure of all the other businesses connected with the weddings organized by Celebrations.
Aliyah Silverstein, co-executive producer of the series, said: “We have been so impressed and so happy with our choice. We are starting to get a feeling of the rhythm of life here; we have already got some fantastic footage, but are also having a great time, and we hope we will be able to translate that feeling.
The film crew of 14 people will be on island for approximately nine weeks.
It is thought that Destination Wedding Planner will show in a potential 77 million homes across the US.
