Jazzing up a master bedroom

By Interior Designer Lisa Ebanks
Friday,  October 14, 2005

You have the basics for your master bedroom in place. The bed, dresser, mirror, two nightstands and a chest of drawers are there but the room still does not feel finished.

Accessorizing with various personal items, adding a coordinated bedding set and artwork can finish off the room.  If you have enough room, adding a sitting area with a comfortable chair and a floor lamp can make your room cozy and welcoming. Even if your bedroom furniture has a modern contemporary feel you can still add items to reflect the atmosphere you are trying to create.

Remember in bedrooms privacy issues and light sources from windows need to be addressed. Window treatments with blinds or fabrics can be incorporated in the design of either contemporary or tropical which match your decor. Plus lighting in the room can be a feature in the design. Next week I will focus on how important lighting is from a practical point of a view and how lighting can be a part of your design.
