Pirates Week kicks off at Royal Palms

Friday,  October 28, 2005

The annual Pirates Week celebration, which started with a Pre-Pirates Week Kicked-off Party at the Royal Palms, has improved when compared to last year’s event.

Dave Martins, Executive Director of Pirates Week told Cayman Net News that there would be bigger and more ships for the landing pageant, more entertainment, bigger fireworks, and bigger sponsor – Digicel.

“This year we’ll have three major ships, as opposed to two from last year, for the pirate invasion. The fireworks will be bigger and there will be a surprise; I am asking the people to come out on time. We start the fireworks at 8:00 pm sharp.”

Mr Martins said that they would set up a stage on Harbour Drive for entertainment purposes. One thing that the patrons of Pirates Week might notice is the return of the district days. “I want to say that Savannah District Day will be held on 5 November,” he said.
