For a small Island, Grand Cayman and in particular George Town, offers an incredible number and diversity of restaurants to satisfy any taste, time and type.

From the haute cuisine restaurants to take-away and from European to Asian cooking residents and tourists alike are spoilt for choice.

Doing business lunch means many things from entertaining a seriously important client and trying to seal a deal, to having fun with work colleagues for an hour or so away from the office.

And when you are looking for somewhere casual to have lunch, George Town has many gems to offer. Some of them are tucked away and off the beaten track and are overlooked except by those who are in the know.

One such place is Bananas situated in the Dolphin Centre off Eastern Avenue. This terrific little restaurant has a lot to offer.

Run and staffed by an extremely friendly team, Bananas offers fantastic local, Caribbean, Spanish and Cuban food, as well as the perfect setting for not just a casual lunch with colleagues and friends, but with wide well spaced tables it is an ideal spot for a working lunch too.

Mr Luis the Ecuadorian, manager owner and all round entrepreneur, is planning to move to a new location in the next few months, but the current Bananas restaurant is worth a visit.

The restaurant specialties are local fish and turtle dishes, which Mr Luis says are always popular with his customers.

With a regular supply of fresh fish from all over the region, the Chef prepares customers top quality food at extremely good prices.

While there are always traditional choices everyday, Bananas changes its menu daily offering regular customers plenty of different dishes from lobster and shrimp, prepared in numerous ways, to stewed conch or ackee and codfish.

With soups, stews and burgers along side the wide seafood choices Bananas has a menu to suit many tastes.

Bananas too is one of the few restaurants that offers a crab dish on a regular basis, alongside its other shellfish choices.

The service is great too and if you don’t want to eat in you can get food delivered. The restaurant delivers regularly to many local businesses in George Town on a regular basis.

The food is tasty and great value and although at the moment there is no license Mr Louis makes sure there is a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks to quench his customers’ thirst from fresh fruit juices to the specialty carrot juice with milk.

When Bananas moves to its new premises there are plans for a liquor license but in the meantime the food is still excellent. Made from fresh wholesome ingredients, Bananas offers great value tasty food and is well worth a visit. They can be contacted at 949 0859.
