Julia Ann McLaughlin

Turtle meat is the customers’ favourite at the restaurant in Mac’s Plaza in Spot Bay, Cayman Brac. Julia Ann McLaughlin, owner of this commercial complex, which she opened 15 years ago, and chef of the restaurant, says she cooks this Cayman staple once per week.

As a true local entrepreneur, Ms McLaughlin has been an Avon representative for 24 years, starting when she lived for a few years in the US. She prefers living on the Brac because she doesn’t like the confinement of New York, she explained.

“It’s much freer here. I can go fishing all the time,” she says.
