National Trust Lecture Series
Janice Blumenthal, a Research Officer with the Department of Environment will present “The Secret Life of Turtles on Wednesday 2 November at 7:00 pm. $5 for non-members; free for Trust members. Annual Women’s Conference
The Vision Miracle Church of God invites both men and women to the Annual Women’s Conference scheduled for 2 to 4 November at 7:00 pm. Speakers will be Bishop Juliette Fagan, Minister Ellen Peguero, Pastor Marlene Scott and others.

National Trust Meeting

Sand-sculpting Competition
The Department of Tourism and the National Gallery present the 3rd Annual Cayman Islands Sand-sculpting Competition on Saturday 12 November at the Seven Mile Public Beach from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Ensure a space by pre-registering via email at assistant.ng@candw.ky or call Tracy on 945-8111.

Dental Clinic to close for Repairs
To facilitate urgent repairs and refurbishing, the Health Services Authority wishes to inform the public that the Dental Clinic at the Cayman Islands Hospital will be closed until Friday 25 November. Limited service will be provided through Dental Caravan and Bodden Town District Health Centre. The Health Services regrets any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause.

Pirates Week 2005 Landing Committee
The Pirates Week 2005 Landing Committee is organizing a variety of on-shore entertainment. Persons interested in showing their talent are asked to call the office at 949-5859 or email pirates@candw.ky. Small-boat owners who would like to participate in the Landing are also asked to contact the office.

Female Cancer Awareness Month
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society will be holding a series of district awareness sessions in the month of November to promote awareness of cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancer. All sessions begin at 7:30 pm and vouchers for free Pap smears will be offered. Refreshments will be served. Call 949-7618 for more information. West Bay Heritage Committee

Cayman Turtle Farm/ Boatswain’s Beach Event
The Cayman Turtle Farm/Boatswain’s Beach invites the public to join the Farm as it releases 20 turtles on Wednesday 2 November at the Seven Mile Beach (Public Beach). The event will begin at 4:00 pm with the release occurring promptly at 5:00 pm. Call 949-3894 for further information.

Fundraising Yard Sale
A fundraising yard sale will take place on Saturday 5 November at the Chapel Church of God in West Bay, beginning at 6:00 am. This is in aid of a trip to the Atlanta Youth Convention in December.

Bodybuilding Championships
The Cayman Islands Natural Bodybuilding Association presents ‘Bodybuilding Extreme championships on Saturday 5 November at Lions Centre. Prejudging at 12:00 noon and Finals at 7:00 pm. Cayman Islands Nurses Association (CINA)
Invites all nurses to their monthly meeting on Monday 7 November at 7:30 pm in the Orchid Conference Room of the Cayman Islands Hospital. The topic is “Cayman HospiceCare & Symptom Management Approaches at the Different Stages of Palliative Care” presented by Jenny Kwakwa of Cayman HospiceCare, for 1 hour CEU credit. CIHS Class of 1980’ Reunion

Stingray Tourism Awards
The reception for the Stingray Tourism Awards will be held at the Grand Cayman Marriott Hotel on Saturday 12 November. The black-tie affair will include cocktails, dinner, entertainment and of course the awards. Tickets are $100 each or a table of 10 for $900. Contact the CITA office for reservations.

Church Senior Group Luncheon
The Elmslie Memorial church’s Senior Group will be holding a luncheon on Monday 17 November at the Elmslie Memorial Hall from 10:30 to 1:00 pm. The luncheon is being held to coincide with the United Nations International Day of Older Persons.

CI Business & Professional Women’s Club
The Club will be holding an international campaign entitled “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence”, which will take place from 25 November to 10 December 2005. National Gallery’s Little Artists Programme
The Little Artists programme at the National Gallery Education Centre is a new drop-off programme that allows children aged 3 to 6 to explore their creative side. Cost per session is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members, and is held weekly at the NGEC, Bay Town Plaza (formerly Merren’s Plaza) each Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Children must register each week prior to the sessions by calling 925-3222 or emailing clareokeefe@hotmail.com.

Conch/Whelk Season Reminder
The Department of Environment is reminding the public of the parameters for the conch and whelk season, which begins simultaneously on 1 November 2005 and closes on 20 April 2006. For information of the parameters and on the Marine Conservation Laws and seasonal restrictions, please call 949-8469.

Artists’ Information sought for Tourist Map
The National Gallery and the Department of Tourism will be producing the second printing of the Tourist Map. Any artist interested in being featured on the map should submit their name, contact number, and physical address as well as studio hours to the National Gallery. Sunrise Adult Learning Centre

Art in the Workplace
Local businesses and corporations which are members of the National Gallery are encouraged to enhance the creative abilities of their staff by allowing them to participate in the ‘Art in the Workplace’ programme.

Art Volunteers Needed
Assistants are needed, especially on weekdays, to volunteer for the many programmes and events offered by the National Gallery and the Gallery’s new Educational Centre. Residents with free time, and an interest in creative arts, are encouraged to become volunteers. In addition to shaping young minds, other benefits of volunteerism include use of the Gallery’s studio and locker space for art supplies. Frank Sound Church of God’s Services

The Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps
Would like to inform the public that their Pink Hibiscus Coffee Shop located at George Town Hospital has been relocated within the Hospital. It is open five and a half days a week and situated in the old X-Ray Department opposite the Mental Health Department just along from the Women’s Centre. The new telephone number is 329-3491 and telephone orders for take-away food are always welcome.

CINICO
The Health Services Authority (HSA) is reminding all participants in the CINICO Health Insurance Plan, including Civil Servants, that they are required to present their CINICO benefits card when registering for service at any HSA facility. DoE and Marine Conservation Board Announcement
The Department of Environment and Marine Conservation Board wishes to remind the public that a fishing license is required for work permit holders who wish to fish from shore for consumption. Applications for annual or monthly fishing licences can be obtained from the DoE’s office on North Sound Road. Contact the Department at 949-8469 for further information.

Al-Anon Group Meeting
If someone in your life is drinking and it is negatively affecting your life and relationship, the Al-Anon Group is asking you to come and join them. Volunteers needed for Hurricane Centres
The Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (ADRA) is seeking volunteers to serve as Shelter Managers, in designated centres, for the 2005 hurricane season. Interested persons are asked to contact 324-3575 or 926-5500 to arrange a convenient time for training.
