  • The Mike Lockwood Memorial International swim meet will take place from 4 to 6 November at the Lions Pool. The meet will kick off at 5:00 pm on Friday, 9:00 am on Saturday, and will enter its final session at 9:00 am on Sunday. The meet will feature international competitors, who will push our local swimmers to show what they are really capable of.
     

  • The Purple Dragon School of Martial Arts Standard Style Tournament is scheduled for Saturday 5 November at George Town Primary School. The event will showcase competition in forms, fighting, and self-defence, in groups for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. For more information, call 946-1241.
     

  • The Cayman Islands Natural Bodybuilding Association’s 2005 Bodybuilding Extreme Championships will take place at the Lions Community Centre on Saturday 5 November. Competitors will compete in four divisions, namely novice men, open men, open women, and women’s figure.
     

  • The Pirates Week 10k run will take place on Sunday 6 November. The event will start from the entrance to the Westin Casuarina at 7:00 am, and finish at the Courtyard Marriott. Registration will take place at the Courtyard Marriott from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday. There will be no race day registration. The $25 entry fee includes a t-shirt and a post-race breakfast at the Courtyard Marriott. For more information and entry forms, call Coach Jerry Harper on 945-3970.
     

  • The Cayman Islands Basketball Association league is set to kick off on Tuesday 8 November, with a men’s under 25 league and a women’s league. Games will take place on the court off Eastern Avenue, next to Cox Lumber.
     

  • The Butterfield Bank International Triathlon will take place on Sunday 27 November. There will be an Olympic standard as well as a sprint event for teams and individuals. Online entries are now open on www.active.com , or go to www.caymantri.com.ky  for more information.
     

  • The “Teed-off about Crime” golf tournament, to benefit Cayman Crime Stoppers, will take place on 15 January 2006. The event will be in the format of a 4 person team scramble, with two tee shots from each player. The entry fee is $125 per person per start.
