LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Mr Jones’ comments are off base

Tuesday,  November 15, 2005

Dear Sir,

I lived in Germany (west) for most of a decade. Even then I wondered why anyone would tolerate civil disarmament in the face of historical facts, i.e. in the 20th century alone civil governments had rounded up and exterminated about 200 million people.

That was judicially-sanctioned, cold-blooded murder of civil populations. That’s before any military casualty counts. Even with the knowledge of the tools (IBM/Hollerith data processing machines that enabled to identification and tracking of the targets during the holocaust) it goes without comment that if the Gestapo/SS were losing people every single time they went hunting for their ‘subhuman’ targets they probably wouldn’t have recorded the results they (and the various thugs from the USSR, China, Cambodia, Rwanda, etc.) ran up. To make a more accurate example, compare crime in say, Canada, with silly firearms regulation to Switzerland where every male over age 17 has a machinegun in their house.

All I really request is that my personal right to defend myself and my property not be restricted.

Why? Well, criminals don’t care about my person or property or my right to protect and preserve same. As long as that is true I need access to the tools to provide negative reinforcement for the crooks.

Police officers are not omnipotent and they can’t be everywhere. I just require the capacity to take care of myself.

As I said, where I’m deprived of the capacity to protect myself and my family, I don’t go. Please look at what has happened in Jamaica and don’t give into this tyrannical abomination of gun control/banning.
