LETTER TO THE EDITOR

In truly civilised countries firearms are subject to control

Thursday,  November 17, 2005

Is Mr Totty seriously suggesting that a burglar arrested and found to be in possession of a firearm, should not be dealt with more severely than one found without a weapon of any description? It should be pointed out that a gun is not a multi-purpose implement. It has only one use, to kill. In all truly civilised countries firearms are rightly subject to rigorous control.

I cannot envisage Cayman going down any other road. Were it to do so the consequences to both the tourism and financial service industries would be disastrous.

Geraint Jones.
