  • The Cayman Islands Open Tennis Championship kicked off on Wednesday 23 November, and will run until 3 December. Games take place at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club on South Sound, starting at 5:30 pm. Competitors will take part in three divisions, namely open, over 40, and over 55. Fans of the game are invited to come out and support the players every evening of the week.
     

  • The Cayman Islands Basketball Association u-25 league is in full swing, with games on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Games take place on the court off Eastern Avenue, next to Cox Lumber. Each evening features two games, with the first game starting at 6:15 pm, and the second at 7:30 pm.
     

  • On Thursday 24 November, Philippines will play GT Sports Club, and Falcons will play Esso Blazers. On Saturday 26 November, Esso Blazers will play Philippines, and East End will play Juniors. On Sunday 27 November, Falcons will play Philippines, and GT Sports Club will play Esso Blazers.
     

  • The Primary Football League has another busy weekend ahead, with 11 games on the menu. In North Side, Cayman Prep B will play North Side B at 9:00 am, with Cayman Prep A taking on East End Primary at 10:00 am.

  • In Savannah, St. Ignatius B will play Savannah B at 9:00 am, with St. Ignatius A taking on Savannah A at 10:00 am.

    Triple C A will play George Town Primary A at Triple C from 9:00 am.

    At the Annex, Red Bay Primary B will play Prospect Primary B at 9:00 am, with Red Bay Primary A taking on Prospect Primary A at 10:00 am.

    Cayman International School B will play Bodden Town Primary B at First Baptist from 9:00 am, with First Baptist A taking on Bodden Town Primary A at 10:00 am.

    In West Bay, John A. Cumber Primary B will play Truth for Youth B at 9:00 am, with John A. Cumber A taking on Truth for Youth A at 10:00 am.

     

  • The first Inter High School Basketball Rally, sponsored by George Town Sports Club and Hosted by Kings Sports Centre will take place on Saturday 26 November from 10:00 am. All players must be at Kings by 9:30 am. Teams from John Gray (A and B), Triple C, St. Ignatius, Cayman Prep, and Wesleyan Christian Academy will contest the tournament, with each team allowed 10 players.

  •  

  • The CISPA Beach Volleyball Tournament will take place on Saturday 26 November at Public Beach. Play will start at 11:00 am, with teams of six playing in two pools. Teams will play in a round robin format in the pool phase of the competition, with all teams then progressing through to the playoff round. Teams need to have at least two female players on the court at all times.
     

  • The Fosters National League will feature six games over the weekend. On Saturday 26 November, two games will take place at the Annex, with Academy SC versus Scholars International at 1:30 pm, and Roma United versus North Side SC at 3:30 pm.

  • On Sunday 27 November there will be two games at the Annex, with Tigers FC versus George Town SC at 1:30 pm, and Latinos FC versus Future FC at 3:30 pm. In Bodden Town there will also be two games on Sunday, with East End United versus Sunset FC at 1:30 pm, and Bodden Town FC versus Money Express at 3:30 pm.

     

  • The Buccaneers will take on Cayman Storm on 26 November as the Alex Alexander Cup continues at the South Sound Rugby Club. The game will kick off at 4:00 pm, and promises to be a great showcase of Cayman’s rugby talent.

  •  

  • The Butterfield Bank International Triathlon will take place on Sunday 27 November. There will be an Olympic standard as well as a sprint event for teams and individuals. Online entries are now open on www.active.com , or go to www.caymantri.com.ky  for more information.

  • The Youth and Sports Interscholastic Football league will continue on Monday 28 November at George Hicks High School when Triple C takes on George Hicks A at 3:00 pm in the under 14 division. The game will be followed by George Hicks B versus Cayman Prep, also in the under 14 division. On Wednesday 30 November, John Gray High School B will play a home game against Cayman Prep at 3:30 pm in the under 17 division. At the same time, John Gray High School A will take on Saint Ignatius at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex, also in the under 17 division.

  •  

  • The ‘Fun in the Sun’ 5K Walk/Run will take place on Saturday 3 December. The event will start at 7:30 am from Public Beach on West Bay Road. The funds generated by the event will be used to help Triple C School replace their school van, which they lost to Hurricane Ivan. The registration fee is $15, with the first 100 athletes registered receiving t-shirts. Refreshments and water stops will also be provided.

  •  

  • The final open water swim of the year will take place on 3 December, with the CUC 800 metre sea swim, which will also double as the “World Swim for Malaria”. The swim takes place from Public Beach on West Bay Road.

  •  

  • This year’s Rugby Club Christmas Golf Tournament will be held at Britannia on Saturday 10 December. This is always a very well supported event with many teams entering. Individuals or companies interested in sponsoring a hole can contact Rob Allan at rallan@burnsconolly.com

  • The “Teed-off about Crime” golf tournament, to benefit Cayman Crime Stoppers, will take place on 15 January 2006. The event will be in the format of a 4 person team scramble, with two tee shots from each player. The entry fee is $125 per person per start. For more information, contact Rob Jamieson on 945-4787.
