Majestic Distilling is now the exclusive United States importer for The Tortuga Rum Company. Based in Lansdowne, Maryland, Majestic is a 62 year old distilling company doing business in 35 states. According to the local rum firm, the agreement provides it with a well-established distribution system throughout the US.

Robert Hamaty, Owner and President of Tortuga Rum Company Ltd., sealed the deal with a handshake with Harold Graff, Vice President Sales & Marketing for Majestic Distilling Company, Inc.

“Now people across America can enjoy our premium Tortuga Rums as well as our world-famous Tortuga Rum Cakes and other gourmet products that are available through Tortuga Imports in Miami,” said Mr Hamaty, who founded Tortuga Rum Company in 1984 in Grand Cayman more than 20 years ago.

Tortuga Rum Company has grown to become the largest duty-free liquor business in the Cayman Islands. The company’s line of flavored Tortuga Rums are special blends of Jamaican and Barbados rums and previously were only available for purchase in the Caymans and select retail liquor stores in Florida.

Maryland’s oldest independent distillery, Majestic Distilling Company was founded in 1943 by Zellic Cohen and now is owned and operated by his son Victor.

The first three Tortuga Rums of the Cayman Islands to be distributed by Majestic include Tortuga Light Rum, Tortuga Gold Rum and Tortuga Spiced Rum.

Tortuga Rum Cakes and Gourmet Products, recognized as the number one export of the Cayman Islands, are available in gift and specialty food departments and gourmet stores throughout the Caribbean and North America.
