Monday,  December 5, 2005

Admitted in the Cayman Islands last month by The Chief Justice, Hon Anthony Smellie QC, Jeremy Channon is a Mutual Funds attorney and the latest member of the legal team at Appleby Spurling Hunter.

His request for admittance was approved by The Chief Justice after hearing a summary of Jeremy’s qualifications and experience from Andrew Bolton, a partner with the firm.

“The people here are wonderful and it’s a genuine honour to be admitted here in the Cayman Islands,” said Mr Channon.

“It is becoming increasingly known worldwide that the Cayman Islands has an excellent reputation for the expertise in the complete sphere of investment funds and financial services. I trust that my work here at Appleby Spurling Hunter will help enhance that reputation”.

Prior to joining the firm Mr Channon gained experience working with the well-known practice of Linklaters in the City of London and Allens Arthur Robinson in Sydney, Australia. Jeremy qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in July 2002.

For the last three years he has acted as Assistant Solicitor to the Head of the Commercial Department at top regional UK law firm, Thomas Eggar specialising in investment funds but is now pleased to once again be moving overseas.

Appleby Spurling Hunter Senior Partner and Corporate and Commercial Local Practice Group Leader, Bruce Putterill, commented, “Jeremy brings with him valuable knowledge and expertise and he is a welcome addition to the firm”.
