Six contestants vie for Miss Cayman crown

One of six women recently selected as finalists will be crowned Miss Cayman lslands when the 2006-2007 Pageant takes place on Saturday, 28 January at the Lions Centre.

With less than two months to go, organisers are busy making preparations for the one-day event in George Town.

Ambuyah Ebanks, 20; Jhanelle Ennis, 19; Arleth Chiari, 19; Ceretta Harvey, 22; Jovani Hessing, 26 and Marsena Hydes, 23 will compete in evening wear, swimwear and casual wear categories.

Ambuyah Ebanks, is the tallest of this year’s contestants at six feet. If she’s successful in the pageant, Ambuyah hopes to promote the charm and friendliness of the Caymanian people during her reign.

Jhanelle Ennis, hopes to become a family lawyer upon completion of her studies. If crowned Miss Cayman Islands 2006/2007, Jhanelle’s priority would be protecting the beautiful environment, the delicate ecosystems and unique culture of the Cayman Islands.

Arleth Chiari, has a large variety of hobbies including photography, sports, modelling and singing. If crowned the next Miss Cayman Islands, Arleth would like to promote tourism, help Cayman’s youth and be remembered for making a difference.

Ceretta Harvey, from West Bay, is currently studying for her LLB.  She would like to assist with the promotion of the Islands as a world-class tourist destination if crowned Miss Cayman Islands.

Jovani Hessing, is a graduate of Stetson University, Florida. If successful in the pageant, as Miss Cayman Islands, she plans to be very proactive within the community.

Following studies at the Community College of the Cayman Islands, Marsena Hydes went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Exeter.  If she wins the Miss Cayman Islands Pageant, Marsena would like to work with Government to ensure that all citizens have a say in the running of the country.

A black-tie fundraising event for Miss Cayman Islands 2006/2007 will be held at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on Saturday 14 January 2006.
