dms Broadcasting’s Christmas Smiles
dms Broadcasting is hoping to bring a smile on the face of children in Cayman’s hospitals this Christmas by delivering gifts to them on 21 December. The public can help by donating new unwrapped presents to the Mirco Centre studios between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, or call 943-1367 and dms Broadcasting will pick it up. Donors will be thanked over the air. 

Passport Holiday Hours
The Cayman Islands’ Passport Office will be closing on Wednesday 21 December at 12:00 noon for a Christmas luncheon and will also be closed from 12:30 pm on 23 and 30 December. It will be closed for the whole day on 26 and 27 December, and 2 January 2006. 

Humane Society Book Shop
The Humane Society Book Shop has Christmas cards and calendars alongside hundreds of hardback, paperback and children’s books, games, stationary, and many more lovely gift ideas.  Please drop in the Book Loft on North Sound Road, above the animal shelter. 

Cayman HospiceCare wrapping
Cayman HospiceCare invites everyone to bring their large gifts, small gifts, any gifts at all down to the Galleria Plaza on 22, 23 and 24 December from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. All donations go toward supporting the ongoing services of Cayman HospiceCare. 

St. Alban’s Church
St. Alban’s Church of England at 461 Shedden Road will be having a Carolling Evening on Thursday 22 December at 5:45 pm. They will also be having their Christmas Eve Service on Saturday 24 December at 7:30 pm and Christmas morning Service, The Holy Eucharist, at 9:00 am. All are invited. 

National Museum’s Gift Shop
The National Museum’s Gift Shop has returned to its regular days of opening, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm; Saturday 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Extended hours for local Christmas shopping will be Wednesday 21 December until 7:00 pm. All proceeds go to the Museum’s Recovery Fund.  

Holiday Hours for Government
All Government offices will be closing at 12:30 pm on Christmas Eve (23 December) and New Year’s Eve (30 December). Civil servants will be working until this closing deadline without a lunch break in order to accommodate the public’s needs. Notices will also be posted on the government web at www.gov.ky.  

Monetary Authority Holiday Hours
On Friday 23 December the Authority will close at 12:30 pm and resume normal operations on 28 December at 8:30 am. They will also close on Friday 30 December at 12:30 pm and re-open for business on 3 January at 8:30 am. 

Lobster Pot Boat-Launching Ramp Closed
The Public Works Department advises that the boat-launching ramp located by the Lobster Pot Restaurant in West Bay will be closed for repair from 16-23 December. 

John Gray Memorial Church
John Gray Memorial Church invites everyone to its Christmas Eve Carol Service on Saturday 24 December at 7:00 pm at the John Gray Memorial Church’s Parking Lot.  Their Cantata “The Heart of Christmas”, presented by the Church Choir, takes place on Sunday 25 December at 11:00 am. All are invited. 

Safe Harbour Community Church
Invites everyone to its Christmas Eve Worship Service on the beach (across from the Courtyard Marriott, SMB) on Saturday 24 December at 6:00 pm. The one hour “come-as-you-are” worship service is an evening of Christmas Carols and a short reflection by Pastor Ken Lieber. You are encouraged to bring a blanket or relax on the chairs provided. Refreshments after the service. They will also be having their Christmas Day worship service at 10:00 am in the Conference Room at the Courtyard Marriott. 

Catholic Rectory Christmas Services
The Catholic Rectory next to the Museum at Stake Bay will be holding Christmas Eve Vigil on Saturday 24 December at 7:00 pm. Christmas Mass will be celebrated on 26 December at 10:30 am. For more information please contact Barbara Malone Tel: 948:0551. 

First Assembly’s Christmas Service
The First Assembly of God Church will be having their Christmas Day Service at 10:00 am. All are invited. There will be no evening service on Christmas Day. 

Children’s Choir Christmas Musical Presentation
The Children’s Choir of the Church of God Chapel, George Town, invites the public to their Christmas Musical “Angel Alert! To be held on 25 December and 8 January 2006 at 7:00 pm. Admission is free but a love offering will be received. 

Parcel Post Collection
The Postal Services are advising all persons to please collect parcels once notified by the post office, especially at this time of year, and due to limited amount of space. 

Catholic Chapel Sunday Worship

Christmas at the Cayman Islands Humane Society

Humane Society volunteers needed
The Cayman Islands Humane Society is looking for volunteers for dog walking and for hands to help in the Book Loft. Dog walkers are really important to the dogs at the shelter, so the Society is asking for help. Please call at 949-1461 or visit on North Sound Road. 

ICTA Information on locking of mobile handsets
The Information & Communications Technology Authority (ICTA) is asking the public for their comments on whether mobile handsets should be locked by service providers. Copies of the posted consultation document may be obtained at www.icta.ky  or by calling the ICTA offices at 946-4282. 

National Gallery Exhibition Dancing
The National Gallery continues their Exhibition Dancing to Art – The Art of Al Ebanks interpreted by the dances of Susan Barnes Pereira, Lorna Reid, Patrice Donalds and Roger Thompson – through mid-January on Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Free admission. 

Lobster Season Reminder
The Department of Environment is advising the public of the regulations for the coming lobster season, which opened 1 December and ends 28 February 2006. For information on the regulations, contact the DOE at 949-8469. 

Underwater Wedding Feature

Women’s Quilting Ministry

Mail Service Disruption at Miami Postal Facility
The United States Postal Service has advised post offices worldwide that its Miami airport facility, due to damage suffered from Hurricane Wilma, is experiencing disruption to mail. Also experiencing disruption are areas in Louisiana with the following zip codes, 701 and 706 among others, as well as Texas with Zip Code 77614. Art Volunteers Needed at National Gallery
Assistants are needed, especially on weekdays, to volunteer for the many programmes and events offered by the National Gallery and the Gallery’s new Educational Centre. Residents with free time, and an interest in creative arts, are encouraged to become volunteers. In addition to shaping young minds, other benefits of volunteerism include use of the Gallery’s studio and locker space for art supplies. The Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps
Would like to inform the public that their Pink Hibiscus Coffee Shop located at George Town Hospital has been relocated within the Hospital. It is open five and a half days a week and situated in the old X-Ray Department opposite the Mental Health Department just along from the Women’s Centre. The new telephone number is 329-3491 and telephone orders for take-away food are always welcome. 

Cayman Islands Girls Brigade Council

National Gallery’s Little Artists Programme
The Little Artists programme at the National Gallery Education Centre is a new drop-off programme that allows children aged 3 to 6 to explore their creative side. Cost per session is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members, and is held weekly at the NGEC, Bay Town Plaza (formerly Merren’s Plaza) each Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Toastmasters Club

The DoE and Marine Conservation Board Announcement
The Department of Environment and Marine Conservation Board wishes to remind the public that a fishing license is required for work permit holders who wish to fish from shore for consumption. Applications for annual or monthly fishing licences can be obtained from the DoE’s office on North Sound Road. Contact the Department at 949-8469 for further information. 

Al-Anon Group Meeting

The Cayman Islands Airports Authority
The second floor of the Owen Roberts International Airport, including the Waving Gallery, is closed to the public until further notice. This closure is for safety reasons due to the ongoing construction and repairs in this area. The CIAA apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation. 

Business and Professional Women’s Club

No fishing in grouper areas
The Marine Conservation Board is reminding the public that designated grouper spawning areas are closed to fishing. The prohibition includes setting a fish trap in these areas or within a one-mile radius of a designated grouper spawning area. For maps of the Marine Parks and designated grouper spawning areas and a brochure of the Marine Conservation Laws, contact the Department of Environment at 949-8469 or go on-line at www.gov.ky.
