LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Sharing memories

Wednesday,  December 28, 2005

Dear Sir,

Back in the day that Tom Hubbell owned Pedro Castle my family and I lived there for a period.

My father, Ronnie Hollyman, was an entertainer and had turned the castle into a dining and night club environment. He also performed there himself under the stage name of “The Quiet Man”. He played the guitar and played numerous songs from a “musical menu” of several hundred songs that was placed at each table in the club.

I remember, as a child, laying on the wooden floors of our bedroom at night listening to his music from below. The club was very popular and drew quite a crowd each evening as I remember.

Just thought I would share a few of these memories to perhaps jog someone else’s. Doris Parker, former owner, along with her husband Bruce, of the Rum Point Inn had named a drink after my father in her Rum Point’s West Indian Cookbook called the “Something Else”.
