UBS donated CI$10,000 to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society for its fundraising campaign to purchase a digital mammography machine, which will increase the country’s capability to detect breast cancer early.
The Cancer Society developed the Women Helping Women fund in December 2005 to raise approximately $300,000 needed to purchase digital mammogram machine, which will be housed in the George Town Hospital.
The CEO of UBS, Sean Flynn, said that it was delighted to support the digital mammography initiative.
“UBS is proud to support the efforts of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society to purchase the most up-to-date mammography equipment available to help in the screening and detection of breast cancer in the women of the Cayman Islands,” said Mr Flynn.
The Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, Chris Carpenter, expressed his thanks to UBS. He noted the Cancer Society has pledged to donate one-third the cost for the machine, with the remaining two-third of the cost to be raised from the community and the private sector.
