Person of the Day
This teenager thinks she is good enough to challenge guys at what is traditionally their sport. Timisha Edwards decided to prove a point when she observed that men dominated the martial arts classes. “When I went to check out the classes it was mostly guys, so I wanted to prove a point,” she says. “It boosts my self-esteem and it lets me know that I can do whatever I want. Even though I’m a girl I can still do what’s widely considered to be a guy’s sport.” Timisha is currently pursuing A-Levels at the St Ignatius Catholic School in George Town in preparation for a law degree in the UK. A softball player as well she says her family plays an important part in her life. Click here for Caymanian of the Week Archive
