Investment legal expert joins Walkers

It was Angus Foster, Head of Litigation at Walkers who made the application for Mrs Justice Levers to admitt Ashley Gunning as an Attorney in the Cayman Islands in a ceremony in the Grand Court.

Mr Gunning was admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1998 and Mr Foster explained that he was educated in England where he obtained a first class law degree and passed the Legal Practice Course with distinction. 

Mr Gunning trained at the London firm of Norton Rose and qualified into the collective investment vehicles team in that firm. 

After a year working in London he moved to Norton Rose’s office in Singapore where he joined the general corporate finance team. He worked there on mergers & acquisitions, international financing transactions and general corporate law.

He was involved in transactions throughout Asia including particularly Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore. Mr Gunning also spoke at various seminars. 

In June 2004 Mr Gunning joined Walkers firm in the British Virgin Islands where he worked on a broad mix of international corporate finance transactions and investment funds of all types.

Mr Foster explained that Mr Gunning was joining Walkers Corporate & International Finance Department, where he will be working principally on investment funds. 

Mrs Levers welcomed Mr Gunning to the Cayman Islands’ legal profession.
