Jamaican actor and MC, (Master of Ceremonies) Kevin ‘Jasper’ Heath is pursuing his gospel ministry and will be leaving the stage after two more plays.
Known as an energetic MC who keeps his language clean, Mr Heath told The Jamaican in Cayman that he would be ‘hanging up his cape’ to concentrate on becoming a fulltime pastor.
“A lot of people want to know why they are not seeing me and I just want to let them know that I’m still around but I am dealing with my ministry,” Mr Heath said.
A holder of an Associate Degree in Theology from the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) in Jamaica, Mr Heath is a student pastor at the George Town Seventh Day Adventist Church.
“It was not my goal to become an actor; I just do this for fun. What I want to do is to pick back up my ministry and I am following God’s voice right now,” he pointed out.
Mr Heath who has performed in plays such as ‘Ants Inna You Milk’, ‘Tenement Yard’ and ‘Bad Mind’, and has toured North America and Europe, is writing a gospel play about a family that falls into confusion because of greed.
“We are getting a few more people together for rehearsal. Within another two and a half months the play would be ready for Cayman and the rest of the Caribbean,” he added.
Currently rehearsing for the play ‘Di Wickedest Bun’ written by Jamaican actor Garfield ‘Bad Man Trevor’ Reid, Mr Heath will take the lead role. The play will debut in Grand Cayman before it goes on tour around the region.
