Drugs destroyed thanks to member of the public

Thursday,  February 16, 2006

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, (RCIPS) took some 10-15 pounds of ganja off the streets of Grand Cayman on Tuesday 14 February after what was described as a public spirited member of the community who called the police after discovering the illegal drugs.

He called the police when he found the drugs hidden in the George Town area.

The RCIPS said they would like to thank the man for his cooperation and hopes it shows what can be achieved when the public and the police work together.

The police said that the find has not led to any arrests and the drugs would be sent for destruction.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour or finds illegal drugs is asked to contact police on 949-4222.
