Police clamp down on drivers

Monday,  February 20, 2006

Officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said that they found 19 motorists driving without seat belts fastened in one hour on Thursday morning last week.

Officers from the Traffic Department set up an operation on Crewe Road between 10:30 and 11:30 am on Thursday, 16 February.

Although it seems the public are getting better when it comes to belting up – the police will continue to carry out operations such as this to educate drivers on the risks that go hand in hand with not securing their seatbelts,” said Sergeant Adrian Barnett.

The RCIPS added that each of the seat belt offenders have been warned of their intended prosecution.
