St Ignatius takes over Truman Bodden Stadium

Smiling all the way to the line

Focussed on the finish line

One giant leap

Going for the line together

Leaping for the sand

Putting some effort into the shot put

St Ignatius Primary took over the Truman Bodden Stadium for a day when it held its annual sport day on Friday 17 February. With participants from year two to year six taking part in wide selection of events, it was a fun day for everyone involved, with the parents and teachers every bit as excited as the participants.
Students participated in events that ranged from traditional athletics staples like the long jump, sprints, and shot put, to slightly less traditional events, including the wheelbarrow race and the shoe kick.
The main motivator on the day was not individual glory, but the fact that the young athletes were competing for their respective houses, with the points being tallied at the end of the day to determine the winner.
Every time the revised scores were read, the leading teams cheered, while the others were motivated to try just that little bit harder to take the lead.
At the end of the day, it was the Herons who claimed first place, followed by the Parrots in second, the Swallows in third, and the Egrets in fourth.
