A modern alternative to the face-lift
Friday, March 3, 2006
A seminar on the latest techniques in facial rejuvenation
will be hosted by the Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital on Thursday 16 March.
One of the most recent technological advances, Contour
Threadlift will be the highlight of the presentation, which is being
facilitated by CTMH’s Visiting Plastic Surgeon Dr. Tony Jackson.
Contour ThreadLift (www.contourthreads.com)
provides a scar-free method of lifting the patient’s facial tissue without
the incisions and trauma of traditional face, brow or neck lift surgery.
Dr. Jackson is one of only two doctors in the
Caribbean certified to perform this procedure. Contour threads are the first
non-absorbable barbed sutures cleared for marketing by the FDA for lifting
the sagging contours of the brow, mid-face and neck areas. Unlike
conventional sutures which are smooth, Contour threads have tiny barbs or
cogs and are made of clear polypropylene, so that they are not visible under
fair or thin skin.
“I make a tiny ‘pinpoint’ incision behind the hairline
above and behind the ear, and the Contour threads are inserted under the
skin. The tiny barbs on each thread open in an umbrella-like fashion to form
a support structure that gently lifts sagging tissues of the face and neck.
A similar procedure lifts the sagging eyebrows”, explained Dr. Jackson.
“I am very excited about this new and affordable
alternative to a face-lift. This minimally-invasive procedure can be
completed in just an hour, and the patient can return to normal activities
in a few days, thus minimizing loss of productivity and income, and
maximizing privacy”.
According to Dr. Jackson, the procedure is usually
performed under local anaesthesia and in most cases there is minimal
discomfort, bruising and swelling. These features have contributed to
establishing the popularity of The Contour ThreadLift and it has become one
of the most successful procedures in Facial Rejuvenation.
Other methods of facial rejuvenation that Dr Jackson
will discuss are lifestyle, cosmetology, injection surgery such as Botox and
surgical techniques such as eyelidplasty, brow lift, face lift and neck
lift.
