Week of the Young Child

Starting on Sunday 5 March, under the theme “Building Better Futures for all Children” – with a Church Service at the John Gray Memorial in West Bay at 4:00 pm, the Week of the Young Child will focus public attention on young children, their families and Early Childhood Education programmes and services.

This is the ninth year that the Cayman Islands will formally recognise the week – in keeping with its affiliation to the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) – the largest organisation of early childhood professionals in the United States, having100,000 members, and a network of over 300 local, state, and regional Affiliates.

On Monday – National Care Provider Appreciation Day – Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to pre-school and Day Care centre staff.
On Tuesday, pre-schoolers will visit their older counterparts at Government and Private Schools and on Wednesday, Pre-schoolers enjoy themselves on organised field trips.

A visit to First Caribbean International Bank is organised for Thursday, between 10:00 & 11:00 am, where some Pre-schoolers will open Sure Start Accounts.

Friday, beginning at 9:00 am, is Open House at all Pre-Schools.
The week climaxes with a concert from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, hosted by the Early Childhood Association at the Prospect Primary School Hall – under the theme “Celebrating Young Children.”
