Nicola Stradling
As the first to cross the line in the DHLDuathlon in a time of 1:04.54 and 17th overall she trains everydayto clear her head.
She first started to compete around the age of 12 for her localrunning club in England. But, prior to that, she used to jog withher dad.
"I have always enjoyed running more than anything else asa means of keeping fit and one of my main goals was to run theLondon marathon, which I did in 1996," said Nicola Stradling.
The year Nicola moved to Cayman she became interested in triathlonwhich, she admits was tricky at first, as she didn't own a bikeand swam like a stone.
Since then, Nicola has competed in the Pirates' Week Triathlonevery year and have taken part in various other events abroad,including a half-ironman in California and an ironman in Brazil.
"The main reason I run is because I enjoy it, masochisticthough that may sound - it also helps to clear my head at theend of the day, not to mention allowing me to eat what I like,"she stated.
