The million dollar question on the lipsof cricket fans is who will be the first champions of the CaymanIslands cricket in the new millennium.

A players are digging deep, for some gaininguseful experience, some trying to attract the attention of thenational selectors, while for others simply enjoying themselves.Smith Road Oval is a beehive of activities every evening as theplayers sharpen up on skills for weekend play. Who would it be?

At the half- way stage, in the EXPRESS REMITTANCEDIVISION 1, By-Rite Sports Club leads, having played unbeatenin four matches. Closely following is Environmental All Starswho have upset the bookmakers with some outstanding performances.By-Rite is pulling out all stops to secure the number one spot,having shared it with Prison last year.

"Is the talent of the other teams beingproperly utilised in sensible planning to create exciting oppositionto derail the By Rite plans?" questions National CricketCoach Theo Cuffy.

In DIVISION II, Deloitte & Touche Internationalseems to be having their own way. Playing unbeaten in four matches,the history making team, sport blue shirts, collecting a totalof 408 runs for 7 wickets in one match and the only double centurionin Horace "Blacka" Dailey in five years, Deloitte &Touche looks like a run away train. Others in contention are CaymanBrac, West Bay and Health Services.
