A Success at Grand Harbour

Quite a number of players in Cayman's Business community and theirfamilies gathered at the Cayman Grand Harbour complex in Red Bayrecently which was the focus of family fun and a Chamberof Commerce Business After Hours event with a difference.
The Chamber's After Hours was part of the"Spring Sensation" weekend of activities at Grand Harbour,having the aim of creating a greater awareness of the Grand Harbourdevelopment, while also giving the public the opportunity to viewand sample the wares of the various retail stores.
Hurley's Marketplace had a large role toplay role in the activities, and over the weekend as they celebratedtheir 2nd anniversary opening at Grand Harbour.
President-Elect of the Chamber of Commerce,Burns Conolly, noted that this particular After Hours event stoodout from others, because: "not just one company, but a wholebusiness community has worked together in order to make the eventa very special occasion".
All the Grand Harbour stores participatedin the weekend's activities and each contributed something unique. Allee's and Island Child clothing stores put on a spectacularfashion show on Friday night, while Gary Callan's Day Spa &Hair Studio performed a hair makeover on an unsuspecting audiencemember.
Hurley's and Blackbeard's Liquors kindlyprovided complimentary food and drinks and other stores includingHottrax, Blockbuster Videos, Planet Arcadia, Hobbies & Books,Grand Harbour Pharmacy, Work of Art, Island Art & Framingall had product demonstrations and exhibitions.
Both IRG Real Estate and BCQS Ltd, managersof the development, were present at the events providing informationon the real estate development plans.
The entire complex at Grand Harbour wasdecorated with bunting and lights, creating a lively atmosphere. A much-talked about feature of the Friday night was the romanticallylit stoned pathway leading to the waterway, which was illuminatedwith tiki torches.
There was more fun for the whole familyon Saturday, with Hurley's second anniversary taking place. Awide range of activities was on offer, ranging from bouncing castlesto face painters, and both Z99 and Radio Cayman broadcasted livefrom the site throughout the day. Barney, Mickey & MinnieMouse and Donald Duck were present and delighted children of allages.
The afternoon proceeded with live musicand a BBQ in aid of D.A.R.E. to raise funds for two RCIP policemenwho are cycling down the Nile in aide of the D.A.R.E programme. A $1000 cheque was presented to two RCIP Officers, on behalfof Caribbeus Architectural Development, developers of the site.Mike Bell, owner of the Grand Harbour, stated that Caribbeus was:"very happy to contribute funds to this very worthy cause".
On Saturday, visitors to Grand Harbour weretreated to a short boat trip around the South Reach waterfrontlots, compliments of Caribbeus. Many of the boat trippers wereamazed at the scale of the development, where kilometers of Keystonesea wall has already been laid, and the South Reach canal frontlots are nearing completion.
At the end of a long and active weekend,a tired but happy Grand Harbour business community agreed thatthe Spring Sensation event was "very successful". Ithas now paved the way for similar events including an Arts andCrafts Festival, taking place at Grand Harbour on 25 and 26 Mayand also a Church Youth Outreach Programme, planned for the upcomingmonths.
