A selection of thekids at the 'Write on' presentation
Local author Dave Martin spoke to John A.Cumber Primary students about the joys of writing at an assemblyto promote the school's new creative writing programme, "WriteOn 2001".
Mr Martin, who is also a songwriter, toldstudents that innovation and individualism should always be importantobjectives for them. His young audience roared with laughter whenhe recited the lyrics of several popular calypsos to prove hispoint.
The project will require students of allages, including the year one children pictured here, to regularlyproduce creative writing that will be displayed around the schooland collected in a portfolio at the end of the year.
Following Mr Martin's presentation, studentsfrom each year were asked to share existing samples of their workwith their peers.
