scrambles Future

Future FC suffered their first loss of theseason, falling to George Town FC 4-1 on Friday at the GeorgeHicks playing field.

It took George Town only 10 minutes beforeinflicting damage. Josmar Dinal won the ball and played it downthe flank. Dinal dribbled pass the advancing goalkeeper and placedthe ball in the net. The score was now 1-0 favouring George Town.

In the last 15 minutes of the first halfit appeared as if Future was gearing up to scoring as they dominatedplay. Glenroy Logan received a golden opportunity after receivinga cross, but he launched the ball high off the post, missing thechance to equalise the scoreline.

As the second half opened, Future got anotheropportunity to put away the ball when a George Town defender handledthe ball in the 18-yard-box. Jared Yates aimed and fired fromthe spot blasting the ball goalward, but George Town's keeper,John Michael Japal dove to the right, pushing the ball into play,leaving his defenders to clear the ball.

In fact, George Town scored immediatelyafter the penalty kick launching a counterattack from the missedpenalty that caught the shattered Future team flat-footed.

Carlos Morgan fired a long ball up the lineto Dinal who made a solo run. Beating the keeper, he fired theball into the net. The score was now at 2-zip with George Townin the lead.

George Town's third goal was supplied byMichael Bonner in the 67th minute when Dinal collected the ballon the left flank. Dinal popped the ball to Bonner, who appearedcomposed. Bonner controlled the ball and blasted it, giving thekeeper no chance for the save.

Down three goals and somewhat deflated afterthe missed penalty Future bounced back when Yates pushed forward.He danced through George Town's midfield and defense. Yates cutinto the box and rifled a bullet into the net taking the scoreto 3-1.

However, George Town scoring streak wasnot finished and in the last five minutes of the game Conrad Mathisonburied the ball in the back of the net after being sup plied withthe ball by Brandon Ebanks

Ernie "Gilly" Seymour, coach forGeorge Town U-14 team said: "Our boys tend to rise to theoccasion when it comes to Future. We put away our chances andwalked away with the win."

"We were nervous. The pressure wason the boys. They knew the championship was at stake but I guessthat there are days like that," said Arnold Hanni one ofthe coaches for the Future team.

In other U-14 matches, Bodden Town camefrom behind defeating Naya 5-3 on Friday at the George Hicks playingfield.
