ICCI ReceivesMore Scholarship Funds

The 32-year-old International College ofthe Cayman Islands (ICCI) was beneficiary of a total sum of $13,100to date, emanating from donations made to the James M. BoddenMemorial Fund, averaging $35 per donor over the past 12 years.
The fund was established following the deathof Mr. Jim in 1988. He served as a Legislator in the Cayman IslandsGovernment for almost 12 years.
An earlier donation made on Monday, 22 Aprilwas supplemented with a further sum in the amount of $7600, whichwas presented to Dr. Elsa Cummings, ICCI's president, and widowof the late founder, Dr. Hugh J. Cummings.
Mr. Jim's widow, Karen M. Bodden set upthe fund in his name for the purpose of educating Cayman's youth.
"It is a small token in his memorythat I am happy to continue to monitor", said Mrs. Bodden".She added, "My husband would have been so very proud to haveseen his wishes for extended education from community supportbecome a reality. He truly believed that the youth is the promiseof the future and training is the foundation of a good tomorrow.I also know that this is also the belief of the Hon. Roy Bodden."
"I am moved by the generosity of thesedonations, which will go a long way in contributing to the educationof the students attending this venerable institution", commentedthe Hon Roy Bodden, Minister of Education, who was in attendanceat the recent hand over of funds.
Mr. Jim Bodden's contributions of land onwhich the college is built and other resources, were instrumentalin assisting Dr. J. Hugh Cummings start the college.
The funds donated will be directed to beused for partial scholarships for students at ICCI. Contributionsup to $500 will be granted at the discretion of Dr. Cummings orher appointee for deserving students applying for assistance.
