Children'sFestival - Record 146 Gold Medals Awarded

Carousel, byMiss Jackie's School Of Dance, earned a gold medal.
Children's Festival judges awardedmore than 200 gold medals to top performers over five days ofcompetition, April 15-19. Students from government and privateschools achieved a record 146 gold medals in the combined choral/instrumentalmusic categories. A further 53 speech performances earned gold.There were five gold awards in dance and four in drama.

West End, East End, Red Bay, Bodden Town,Savannah, Truth For Youth, Cayman Academy, Wesleyan and TripleC each received two gold medals. Cayman Brac High, North Side,St Ignatius and Cayman Prep received a gold each.

The most popular performances will be featured in four nightsof public concerts at the Harquail Theatre, from Wednesday, April24- Saturday, April 27. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children,and are available from the Education Department, tel 945-1199or at the door.
