Visit of theLarinda a Great Success

Hundredsof residents and visitors toured the Larinda over the weekend.
Last weekend hundreds of residents and visitorstook advantage of Captain Larry Mahan and his wife's invitationto go onboard the Larinda, which had been in Grand Cayman forseveral days.

Members ofthe National Quincentennial Committee and other invited guestsgathered on the South Terminal on Friday evening for a receptionand tour of the Larinda, Minister for Education, Human Resources& Culture, the Hon. Roy Bodden talks with National CommitteeMember Burns Conolly.
Captain Larry was delighted with the turnoutand even more impressed with the warm hospitality he receivedwhilst in port. "The trip has been absolutely fantastic"he said. "It is really amazing to travel such a distanceto this little spec in the middle of the ocean and find such anice group of people."
He went on to say that he hoped people whohad the chance to visit the ship took away with them an appreciationof the way things used to be: "I hope when people come onboardthey get a flavor for what it takes to work a ship such as thiswhich was the work horse of a past era. It is a heritage thatis well worth remembering".
The public will have the opportunity tovisit another tall ship next month when the Ukrainian Bat'kivshchynaarrives in Grand Cayman. Details on this visit will be issuedin the coming weeks.
