Cinco De MayoCelebrations
The month of May is fast approaching andthe occasion for another Cinco de Mayo celebration will soon beat hand.
The annual five-kilometer run/walk on thefifth day of the fifth month, with a scheduled start time of 5:55p.m. will again be organised by the Phoenix Athletic Club.
The assembly point is the Seaview Hotelon South Church Street and participants will follow a loop course,which will lead back to near the starting point, and post-raceaward ceremonies will take place on the hotel's waterfront deck.
Overall and age-group top performances willbe recognised and random prizes will be distributed to includeas prizewinners many of those who take part simply for socialand recreational reasons.
The entry fee is $15 and a race shirt willbe awarded to all finishers. Prizes will be theme-related andwill include several humourous offerings.
Pre-race day registration is encouraged.Entry delivery and pick up is possible.
As an informative note, Cinco de Mayo isnot Mexican Independence Day. Cinco De Mayo instead commemoratesthe Battle of Pueblo.
